On April 24, the Plano Police Department hosted a heartfelt luncheon to recognize the dedicated members of the Plano Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (PCPAAA) and the Citizens Assisting Plano Police (CAPP) program. These outstanding volunteers selflessly donated a remarkable 16,724 hours in 2024, supporting a variety of non-sworn, non-confrontational duties throughout the department.

Plano Police Chief Ed Drain welcomed attendees to the event, expressing deep gratitude for their commitment to making Plano a safer, stronger community. Since 1991, the Plano Citizens Police Academy has connected residents with the department. Graduates formed the PCPAAA organization to help and support the City of Plano, especially the police department, through volunteer service. PCPAAA members contribute through civic events, fundraising, patrols, scholarships, and more, helping strengthen community and police relations.
